Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant

Explorer the beautiful Sleeping Beauty Castle, the icon and heart of Disneyland Park.

Le Château de la Belle au Bois Dormant hosts the attractions La Galerie de la Belle au Bois Dormant (a walkthrough attraction with stained glass windows and tapestries), La Tanière du Dragon (an Audio-Animatronic dragon) and the two shops Merlin l’Enchanteur and La Boutique du Château. The castle stands 50 metres (167 feet) tall, remarkably bigger than Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland California and Hong Kong Disneyland.

The Disney family’s coat of arms is located on an archway on the left hand side of the Castle, near the entrance to La Tanière du Dragon. It’s a tradition that this coat of arms is located on every Disney Castle around the world, even the Walt Disney Pictures logo that plays in front of every Disney movie features it.

Trivia

Take out your zoom lens and take a close up of one of the golden turrets. You’ll see they’re decorated with snails, a nod by the Imagineers to the use of those animals in the French cuisine.
